Remote workforce management

Remote workforce management

The challenges of managing remote employees have recently become a hot topic in the workforce management arena. The shift to remote work during the pandemic of 2020 only accelerated an already growing movement toward more flexible work situations. While working from home holds appeal for many employees, and for employers trying to maintain business continuity even while trying to manage a remote workforce.

Allowing employees to work remotely does raise a number of issues for both workers and managers. Successful managers of remote teams need to be aware of both the advantages and the limitations of remote work. Without the daily social interactions of an onsite job, for example, some employees can fall into feelings of isolation that impact productivity. Human resources managers can improve remote employee engagement by making regular check-ins with each team member, being sure that they are sharing information workers need to do their jobs, and creating checklists for setting up an ideal working space at home.
