The CFO of the Year awards debuted in 2007 to honor outstanding financial leaders at Twin Cities companies large and small. Nominees were evaluated by a judging panel consisting of other financial executives and specialists, who scored them on their contributions to their companies and the broader community.

Grinwis joined Ascentis as Chief Financial Officer in April 2019, bringing a strong track record of re-engineering processes and building high performing teams to create significant value for shareholders and employees. His leadership was repeatedly put to the test during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he rose to the occasion every time. He worked with existing clients to restructure contracts and payments which led to a double digital increase in client retention, and instituted expense measures that improved profitability by 279% and boosted cash funds by around 15%, allowing Ascentis to weather the economic hardships of the pandemic.
