Ascentis’ Brandon Grinwis Named CFO of the Year by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal

Grinwis is recognized for his strategic leadership and financial stewardship in a year that highlights the importance of the role of the CFO.

MINNEAPOLIS – September 13, 2021 – Ascentis, a leading provider of full-suite HR technology centered around industry-leading workforce management solutions, today announced that Brandon Grinwis has been named a CFO of the Year by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The award acknowledges outstanding financial executives in the Twin Cities.

The CFO of the Year awards debuted in 2007 to honor outstanding financial leaders at Twin Cities companies large and small. Chief financial officers are a crucial part of a company’s leadership team and touch everything from human resources to technology to strategy — and finances, of course. Nominees were evaluated by a judging panel consisting of other financial executives and specialists, who scored them on their contributions to their companies and the broader community.

“Brandon’s insight, skilled decision-making and collaborative approach have positioned Ascentis to navigate the uncertainty during a pandemic while making a measurable, positive impact on the organization,” said Brian Provost, CEO, Ascentis. “Under Brandon’s leadership, Ascentis is poised for sustainable growth and we’re proud to see him recognized for his significant contributions to the organization.”

Grinwis joined Ascentis as Chief Financial Officer in April 2019, bringing a strong track record of re-engineering processes and building high performing teams to create significant value for shareholders and employees. His leadership was repeatedly put to the test during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he rose to the occasion every time. He worked with existing clients to restructure contracts and payments which led to a double digital increase in client retention, and instituted expense measures that improved profitability by 279% and boosted cash funds by around 15%, allowing Ascentis to weather the economic hardships of the pandemic.

The 2021 CFO of the Year luncheon and awards program will be held on Friday, November 12, and profiled in a special section in Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s November 12 issue. For more information, click here.
