Chief Executive Officer
Brian brings to Ascentis more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in rapid growth, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technology companies. Prior to Ascentis, Brian was the CEO of Convey Compliance, which was acquired by Vista Equity in July 2014. Brian joined Convey in 2008 as President and Chief Executive Officer and led the company’s growth strategy. Under his leadership, Convey established itself as the recognized leader in SaaS-based tax information reporting solutions. Brian’s commitment to hiring great people, his ability to define and execute effective growth strategies, and his belief in delivering a superior client experience were key drivers of Convey’s success and represent the cornerstone of his operating philosophy.
Prior to Convey, Brian led Gelco Expense Management, a SaaS-based provider of travel expense management solutions. Under his leadership, Gelco experienced significant growth, culminating in a sale to Concur Technologies in 2007. Additionally, Brian has held executive management positions at Norstan Communications, ColorSpan Corporation, and Wizmo, Inc.
In addition to serving on the boards of three software business, Brian also dedicates substantial time to various philanthropic endeavors. He is the Chairman of the Board of The Banyan Community, a Minneapolis-based community development organization dedicated to transforming urban lives by supporting youth, strengthening families, and creating community.
Brian holds a B.A. in business marketing from Bethel University.
Chief Financial Officer
Brandon joined the Ascentis executive team in 2019. He brings more than 15 years of leadership in driving growth, efficiencies and profitability at high-performing technology companies. As CFO at Ascentis, Brandon is charged with managing financial operations to support the company’s growth as well as leading the finance and accounting departments.
Before joining Ascentis, Brandon was Vice President of Finance & Business Operations at Code42, a fast growing global enterprise SaaS provider of data security technology. Brandon has held financial leadership positions at Digital River and Lawson Software, two other high growth, Software-as-a-Service based businesses.”
Brandon received a B.A. degree from Ohio University and a master’s degree from Notre Dame.
Chief Sales Officer
Steve comes to Ascentis with over 20 years of experience selling technology solutions and building successful sales teams.
Prior to Ascentis, Steve was a VP of sales at SPS Commerce, a full service SaaS provider that enables retail trading partners to more efficiently work together. Prior to SPS Commerce, Steve was a VP of Sales at Oracle Corporation where he led teams focused on business intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) SaaS solutions and engineered hardware solutions. Before Oracle, Steve held sales and marketing roles at Siebel, nQuire, Sterling Software and Information Advantage. Throughout Steve’s career he has focused on developing successful organizations and ensuring customers get maximum value from the people, process and technology offered.
Steve received a B.A. degree from Drake University and a master’s degree from Michigan State University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Troy comes to Ascentis with a background in driving market and business change to create high growth businesses-to-business enterprises. After several years in finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers and General Mills, he spent the last 17 years focused on leading global marketing efforts at Software-as-a-Service based businesses. Prior to Ascentis, Troy held a variety of leadership roles at Sovos, and helped the business grow from 30 to over 800 employees over his eight-year tenure. Earlier in his career, Troy held marketing leadership roles at Concur, Gelco and Honeywell.
Troy served as vice chairman at the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC), an advisory group chartered to provide recommendations to Congress on driving digital initiatives at the IRS. He is a mentor to technology startups with the Minnesota Emerging Software Advisory (MESA).
For the past 2 years, Troy has served on HR.com’s Tech Stack Advisory Board
Troy has a B.S. from Indiana University and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
Chief Product Officer
Jeff joined Ascentis as chief product officer with more than 25 years’ experience in delivering innovative product solutions to solve unique business challenges.
Prior to joining Ascentis, Jeff was the general manager of U.S. products at Sovos, as well as vice president of product marketing at Gelco, which was acquired by Concur. Under Jeff’s leadership, his teams have led the launch of new and innovative solutions ranging from financial technology software for large organizations to cloud services targeting small and mid-sized businesses.
Jeff holds a B.A. in physics from the University of Colorado.
VP of US Development
Eugene joined Ascentis in 2014 during its acquisition of Starfield, and is responsible for building revolutionary HCM technology foundations, fostering product innovation and managing strategic technology initiatives.
His more than 17 years of experience in technology, vendor management, and human capital management industries include leading product development, R&D, and quality assurance at Starfield. Also during his time at Starfield, Eugene led teams that designed and built next-generation mobile talent management products. Additionally, he held previous leadership roles in software development and engineering at Chimes Inc, Chimes Global, and Beeline.
Eugene holds a B.A. in computer science from Oakland University.
EVP, SaaS Operations, Corporate Technology & Architecture
Seba joined Ascentis as Managing Director of Ascentis’ Uruguay facilities with 18 years of experience as a technologist delivering business-to-business, software-as-a-service solutions.
Prior to Ascentis, Seba was Global Head of Architecture for Sovos and built his career growing its technology organization from a handful of developers to a world class team spanning multiple countries. His team still delivers best-in-class enterprise tax information reporting solutions. During his time at Sovos (formerly Convey), he led Development and Architecture teams and worked closely with IT influencing the design and evolution of its then pioneering Service Oriented Infrastructure.
Seba holds an Informatics Engineering degree from Universidad del Norte Santo Tomas de Aquino, Tucuman, Argentina.
VP of HR at Ascentis
Jennifer Ho joined Ascentis as VP of HR in 2018. She is a human resources leader with more than 10 years’ experience developing and growing multi-faceted human resource strategies.
Prior to Ascentis, Jennifer led human resources departments for several high growth technology businesses, and has a wealth of experience in talent acquisition, training and development, compensation and benefits, and process improvement.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
VP of Client Relations
Robert comes to Ascentis with a background of more than 25 years in client service leadership roles, with much of that time in SaaS-based businesses. He leads the professional services, integration services, client support, payroll tax and operations teams, and focuses on delivering unsurpassed service and support to clients.
Prior to joining Ascentis, Robert served as Practice Lead for Global Support and led the Americas Client Operations team for Sovos where he grew the Client Operations group to as many as 250 employees as a result of his leadership and growth within the business.
Anthony holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
