Walter Turek has served as the Executive Chairman of Ascentis Corporation since 2011. Mr. Turek also currently serves on the Earthlink (NASDAQ: ELNK) Board of Directors as a Director and Member of the Compensation Committee since 2015. He also currently serves on the Spark Networks (NYSE MKT: LOV) Board of Directors as a Director and Member of the Audit and Compensation Committee since 2013. From 2005 until its sale to Vista Equity Partners in 2013, Mr. Turek served on the Board of Directors, including as Chairman of the Nominations and Governance Committee and a Member of the Audit and Compensation Committee of Greenway Medical Technologies (formerly NYSE: GWAY), a provider of information solutions to improve the financial performance of healthcare providers. From 2009 until its sale in February 2012 to Juniper Networks, he served as Co-Founder and Director of Mykonos Software, a provider of security solutions for websites and web applications against hackers, fraud and theft. Until June 2009, Mr. Turek served as an Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Paychex, Inc. (NASDAQ: PAYX), where he oversaw a sales force of more than 2,000 people as well as the company’s marketing and international efforts. During the course of his 25 year tenure with Paychex, revenues grew from $10 million to $2 billion, and the company’s market cap expanded to $13 billion. In addition, Mr. Turek also served as Corporate Director of Stromberg, a wholly owned subsidiary and a provider of time and attendance solutions. Mr. Turek’s substantial executive experience and knowledge of the software industry uniquely qualifies him to accelerate the product growth and market-share of Ascentis as a leading provider of comprehensive HCM software and services in the mid-market.
Joelle Vail joined Ascentis in 2012. She has 20 years of experience in the human capital marketplace, with 15 years at Paychex. Ms. Vail is a graduate of University of Rochester with management certification at the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business. She resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband and two sons.
Jilbert Washten joined Ascentis in 2014 and oversees the company’s financial and administrative teams as the chief financial officer. He joined Ascentis from Cloudmark, where as VP of finance and accounting he was focused on the company’s financial reporting, accounting service, internal controls and all aspects of financial accounting. Mr. Washten brings more than 15 years of broad-based experience in finance and corporate accounting. He holds a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo, with an emphasis in economics and international management. He resides in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife and daughter.
Mike Cross joined Ascentis in 1995, and is the chief technical officer responsible for IT infrastructure, payroll operations and software quality assurance. Mr. Cross resides in and is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from California State University, Hayward in computer science.
Katie Goldberg joined Ascentis in 2013. As the director of product management she is responsible for defining overall product strategy, and defining and delivering the product roadmap. Mrs. Goldberg has 20 years of experience in various roles in the HCM industry, and prior to joining Ascentis, was a practice director for Infor HCM services. Ms. Goldberg holds a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) designation from the Society for Human Resources Management and the group benefit associate (GBA) designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plan. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, and currently resides with her family in Atlanta, Ga.
Vipin Mehta joined Ascentis in 2012. As senior director of product development, he is responsible for building and growing the Ascentis technology platform. Mr. Mehta brings more than 19 years of experience in software consultancy, engineering, and product development. In the past, he oversaw software development and technology in a med-tech startup. As director of payroll product development at Oracle, he was deeply involved in the human capital management applications domain. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from National Institute of Technology in India. He and his family reside in San Ramon, Calif.
Gwen Sheridan joined Ascentis in 2013. She oversees client services and support. Prior to joining Ascentis, she worked at PayScale and the Corporate Executive Board. Ms. Sheridan is a graduate of Princeton University, and holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. A Seattle native, she serves on the board of directors of Page Ahead, a non-profit organization that gives books to children in Washington State.
Eugene Goyfman joined Ascentis in 2014 as part of the Starfield acquisition where he was responsible for leading product development, R&D, and quality assurance teams. He brings more than 17 years of experience in the technology, vendor management, and human capital management industries. As chief architect, Mr. Goyfman is responsible for building next generation technology foundations, fostering innovation, and overseeing other strategic technology initiatives. Mr. Goyfman holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Oakland University and resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife.
Dianna Sovine joined the Ascentis marketing team in 2006. Ms. Sovine has more than 15 years of corporate marketing experience in a variety of industries, including tourist railroading, healthcare, aerospace and defense, and technology. At Ascentis, she focuses on core marketing disciplines that include marketing automation, online marketing, brand management and demand generation. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in marketing and management and resides in Kirkland, Wash.
